Messages of support

'On 27/28th June we are taking our message to every UK MP in their constituencies. I would urge anyone who feels strongly about world poverty to join the Trade Justice Movement MP lobby marathon.'
Ed O'Brien, Radiohead, June 2003

The Trade Justice Movement are working hard to engage the public in a debate about the huge amount of power global corporations have over our lives. We have democratic control of our government so why not have demcoratic control over institutions like the WTO, the World Bank and the IMF? It's time we had a public debate about decisions taken by these bodies that affect all our lives in a globalised world. No power without accountability!'
Singer-songwriter Billy Bragg

'We would like to express our solidarity with the 24 hours for Trade Justice Campaign. We believe that this process will add to the overall global movement. For us in the Caribbean your initiative provides impetus, energy and excitement we will share your initiative and activities throughout our network and we want to wish you the greatest success in your campaign. Keep up the good work!'
Shantal Munro-Knight from The Caribbean Policy Development Centre (CPDC) and the Caribbean (NGO) Reference Group on External Relations (CRG)

'I'm scaling up for trade justice on June 28. Thousands of people across the country will be bringing out their kitchen scales to symbolise fair trade for small-scale farmers around the world.'
TV chef Delia Smith

'FASE would like to express its enthusiastic support for the initiative of the activities now being done by the Trade Justice Movement. We see this initiative as one step further in the struggle to turn around the situation in which trade reproduces and increases inequalities and where the wealthy countries follow policies at the expense of the rights of the great majority of the world's population. Our best wishes for great success in the events of 27 and 28 June!'
Jorge Eduardo Saavedra Durao, Executive Director - FASE, Brazil

'We should like to express through this message our sincere congratulations to the UK Trade Justice Movement for the work which they are doing in Great Britain. CLADEM, The Latin America Committee for the Defense of Women's Rights, a regional organisation with links and national representation in 16 countries in our region, supports this campaign and wishes to express its solidarity with the people who are lobbying for fairer trade rules. We are sure that the events of 27 and 28 June will be as or more successful than those of 19 June last year.
Susan Chiarotti B., Regional Coordinator, CLADEM, Uruguay
