Pulling together for Trade Justice

by Andrew Pendleton

Two campaigners in Newcastle

Mark Field, MP for Westminster, felt the weight of concern for trade justice among his constituents when he took part in an unfair tug-of-war on College Green, opposite Parliament. Taking part were Margaret Muthui, a Christian Aid partner from Kenya, and a group of local campaigners.

After a strenous contest in the midday sun, local campaigner Sam Goddard, explained to Mr Field the importance of delivering the call for trade justice to the Government as it prepares to attend important international trade negotiations this summer.

Margaret Muthui went on to describe how farmers in Kenya are unable to make a livelihood because the rules which govern trade are unfairly biased against them.
