World trade rules rob poor countries of £1.3 billion a day - 14 times what they get in aid.
This needs to change. And this year we have a chance to change it.
September 2003 sees the next big meeting of the World Trade Organisation, due to take place in Cancun, Mexico. It's vital that the agreements made in Mexico swing the balance in favour of the poorest people and the environment. That's why we're scaling up our efforts now.
To influence the UK Government's position in Cancun, we aim to lobby every one of the UK's MPs this summer, and ensure that MPs and decision-makers are bombarded with letters calling for trade justice.
The Trade Justice Movement is organising three actions that need your support:
24 hours for Trade Justice
Lobby your MP locally between noon Friday 27 June and noon Saturday 28 June
Weigh in for Trade Justice
Be part of a huge symbolic action all over the UK at 12 noon on Saturday 28 June
Write in for Trade Justice
We also aim to bombard MPs and decision-makers with letters throughout 2003.
Write to your MP now.
